In the development of the logistics park, the Port of Gothenburg and Castellum are not just focused on logistics areas, according to both companies. The goal is to create a sustainable hub for future electric transport flows. To achieve this, solar panels, battery storage, charging infrastructure, and intelligent energy management will be integrated in collaboration with Buddy Energy. Henrik Fahlén, CEO of the joint venture Halvorsäng Fastighets AB (together with the Port of Gothenburg) and Head of Business Development at Castellum:
“We are building for electrification, guided by economic benefit, climate goals, and system efficiency.”
270,000 square meters of total area The Halvorsäng Logistics Park is strategically located near the Port of Gothenburg. With a total area of around 270,000 square meters and a rentable area of 145,000 square meters at full development, the
area aims to become a new center for sustainable logistics in the Gothenburg region. The first phase, covering an area of 45,000 square meters, is already underway, and OneMed is expected to move in as the first tenant by 2026, it is reported. Henrik Fahlén:
“We are developing an area that not only meets today's logistics requirements but is also prepared for future demands in terms of electrification, climate responsibility, and supply security. Halvorsäng is a strategic investment where we combine infrastructure, sustainability, and long-term business value.”
The area is to be certified as Environmental Building 4.0 Gold, reducing the climate impact by 40 percent compared to a reference building. The charging infrastructure for heavy transport, the generation of electricity from renewable energies, and the targets in energy management would make the Halvorsäng Logistics
Park a concrete example of how sustainability requirements can be integrated into the logistics properties of tomorrow. Jill Söderwall, Vice President Business Areas at the Port of Gothenburg:
“Halvorsäng is a key investment for the Port of Gothenburg and part of our mission to facilitate sustainable decisions for all involved in the logistics chain. Together with Castellum and Buddy Energy, we are creating a logistics area for the future, equipped with the necessary infrastructure to support increased electrification.”
Solar Power and Real-Time Control With Buddy Energy's solution, local power generation from solar panels is to be integrated with battery storage and intelligent real-time control. The energy will be stored and used during peak demand times, reducing costs, decreasing the burden on the power grid, and creating flexibility for the future energy market, it is
reported. Per-Henrik Persson, CEO of Buddy Energy:
"For us, this is a prime example of how a modern logistics park should be built. When energy generation, storage, charging, and control work together, we get properties that strengthen the power grid and create added value for both the property owner and the tenant. This is how we build robust systems.”
Tenants in the Logistics Center OneMed is to become the first tenant in Halvorsäng and will establish its new Nordic logistics center in this area. Mikael Eisner, Transport & Distribution Manager at OneMed:
“We see sustainable logistics as an integral part of our business. In Halvorsäng, we will have a facility that improves both our climate profile and our delivery capacity. It perfectly matches our goal to make a difference for both our environment and
