The commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus Germany urgently warns of a current wave of fraud related to vehicle transactions. In several known cases, unknown individuals have posed as official MAN sellers or even as members of management on digital sales platforms such as Mobile.de – with the aim of deceiving customers in the new and used vehicle trade.

Particularly perfidious: The perpetrators use manipulated sales ads to offer vehicles under the MAN

name at particularly favorable conditions. In some cases, fraud has already been completed, causing financial damage to the affected parties.

“Even though we unfortunately cannot completely prevent certain fraud scenarios, raising awareness is the crucial first step. We call on our customers and partners to be extra vigilant and to scrutinize particularly if there are payment requests or unusual communication methods,” says Dennis Affeld, Chairman of the Management Board of MAN Truck & Bus

Germany.

The company emphasizes that these are targeted and professionally organized fraud attempts. MAN is responding with legal action and intensified measures to protect customers and business partners. At the same time, the manufacturer appeals to all interested parties to exercise special caution with suspicious offers.

Important tips from MAN Truck & Bus to protect against fraud:

  • Official emails from MAN only end with @man.eu. Deviating sender addresses should be critically examined.
  • Payment requests
  • and invoices should fundamentally be verified through the known MAN contact person – preferably by phone.
  • Original invoices are never sent via third parties or unverified communication channels.
  • Even if the sender names appear correct, it is essential to check the full email address.

In case of suspicion, MAN advises to immediately contact the police and simultaneously reach out to the responsible seller. An overview of authorized MAN dealers can be found at: www.man.eu/de/de/ueber-uns/unternehmen/vertriebsregionen/vertriebsregionen.html.
