The Coglas GmbH from Wunstorf offers a web-based Warehouse Management System (WMS) called "COGLAS WEB WMS". How companies of different sizes can introduce this scalable WMS in their operations with the support of the provider in an agile manner within seven days was explained by Coglas employees Enrico Pojer, Senior Consultant, and Fazalrehman Khan, Sales Manager, on May 14 at the CONFERENCE DAYS 2025 of HUSS-VERLAG.
- On the first day of the agile implementation, Coglas begins with the cloud setup and project planning at the user company. "We set up the web service and make the system accessible to our customers," said Pojer. This means that training can be conducted and processes set up. "Then we consider which milestones should be achieved by when," explained the Senior Consultant. What should the support look like and which processes are relevant to the company?
- On the second day, the provider imports the company's master data into the WMS: via an Excel file or manually through the interface. This master data includes business partners, article master data, packaging units, and loading equipment.
- On the third day, the focus is on topology and strategies: "Questions such as which areas exist in the warehouse, which types of racks are used, and if automation is used are answered," reported Pojer. Then, the topology is set up together.
- In the next step, Coglas trains the company in the area of standard processes within its demo system: This includes processes for goods receipt, classic picking, multi-pick picking, and warehouse charge processing. "This way, the customer knows which processes are really relevant to them," said the Senior Consultant.
- On the fifth and sixth day, it's time for setup: The customer now knows the standard processes and defines which are relevant to them and how they should be executed. For this, Coglas and the company go through the process in the warehouse together: "We set up the goods receipt together," explains Pojer, "where should the goods be booked, what happens when the goods are received, and what does the storage strategy look like?" Subsequently, the company can test the processes. "This means the processes are started without a specification sheet," said the WMS expert.
7. On the seventh day, the go-live of the WMS can take place: "The first orders and goods receipts are played in, accompanied by Coglas," explains Pojer. The goods are received with the planned processes and brought to their storage locations.
