On June 17, ViGo Bioenergy, Bosch, and Iveco presented an application in Leverkusen that aims to contribute to climate-friendly mobility in road freight transport: the "Digital Fuel Twin." As part of the European technology initiative Tour d'Europe, it was publicly demonstrated for the first time how an "IVECO S-Way" LNG semi-trailer truck equipped with Digital Fuel Twin software was fueled with 100 percent bio-LNG – at ViGo's bio-LNG filling station in Leverkusen.

The Digital

Fuel Twin is intended to make the origin of the renewable fuel digitally visible and traceable. This is seen as a decisive step towards greater transparency, traceability, and confidence in alternative propulsion solutions in heavy-duty transport, according to the cooperation partners.

According to a press release, the vehicle has already completed a long journey: the IVECO S-Way LNG started in Rome, stopped in Strezing in northern Italy, traveled through Berlin and Leverkusen, and will

make a stop in Lille before proceeding to the official closing event in Brussels.

Raising awareness for alternative fuels

Although these renewable fuels are already available on the market, awareness of their benefits is still low in Europe, according to the press release. The Tour d'Europe, whose partners include vehicle manufacturers, fuel and suppliers, as well as industry associations, aims to address this and inform the public. According to the cooperation partners, "FuelTwin" is

a tamper-proof method to make CO2-neutral fuels countable under the CO2 fleet regulation for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

Henning Rehbaum, CDU Member of the Bundestag and member of the Transport Committee, accompanied the demonstration and emphasized the importance of such solutions:

"I very much welcome new technologies like the digital Fuel Twin for the transport sector. It is a milestone for the competitiveness of biofuels, and I will continue to advocate for open
