As the Bremen logistics service provider BLG Logistics announces in a press release, the company has expanded its partnership with Konica Minolta, a Japanese provider in the optical industry and medical technology. The collaboration, which has existed for more than four decades, has been expanded to include additional services.
According to the service provider, new orders were integrated into the European warehouse in Emmerich am Rhein to improve the supply chain, including spare parts logistics and the healthcare sector.
“The integration and expansion in our distribution center in Emmerich is an integral part and milestone of our corporate and SCM transformation.
I am particularly pleased that with the help of our logistics partner BLG LOGISTICS, we were able to implement this for our customers almost without interruption. In the future, we can therefore offer our customers the entire range of our products and services from a 'single' source with improved service,” says Winfried Hennemuth, Head of International SCM Division, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH.
With the expansion of the order, BLG Logistics takes over the entire spare parts supply for the European market.
More than 40 years of partnership
The partnership between BLG Logistics and Konica Minolta began in 1980 and,
according to the logistics service provider, has been steadily intensified since. As a long-standing logistics partner, the BLG Group has contributed over decades to continuously improve the customer's logistics and operational processes. After moving the business from Bremen to Emmerich in 2008, the operational business today covers an area of 80,000 square meters. In addition to the transport, storage, picking, and shipping of printers and copiers, the service spectrum also includes pre-delivery installation, i.e., the assembly, calibration, and installation of multifunction devices. About 250 employees are employed at the site for the logistics handling of Konica Minolta products.
“As a long-standing
logistics partner of Konica Minolta, we are proud to take the cooperation to a new level,” says Thomas Leiber, Managing Director of BLG Logistics in the Contract business area. “With 40,000 additional items and an output of 3.5 million parts per year, we set an important milestone and strengthen Emmerich as a central logistics hub for Europe. The location convinces with its efficient overall logistics system and thus also our role as a strong partner for Konica Minolta in Europe.”
As an important German inland port, Emmerich has a trimodal transport connection – with direct access to highways, railways, and waterways.
