For a manufacturer of electrical engineering, the logistics service provider from Mühlacker is responsible for, among other things, the storage of small parts in Regensburg, as well as currently operating the shuttle service to the customer's factory three times a day. Nicole Brantl, Head of Warehouse at the Regensburg Logistics Center of Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG:

“With the new mezzanine, we have found a solution in close collaboration with our customer that meets their individual requirements.”

The family-owned company is responsible for contract logistics for the then new customer. Brantl:

“We are pleased that our long-standing customer has renewed the contract again. With the increased volume of orders, the demand for storage space has also grown.

By implementing the mezzanine, we were able not only to expand our capacity but also improve process times by storing more goods on site and shortening the routes.”

According to their own statements, the planning of the mezzanine was carried out in close coordination with the customer. Daniel Rentschler, Project Manager/Logistics Planning at Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG:

“We formed a project team and jointly developed ideas for expanding the space. In addition to the mezzanine, we also set up a shelving system.”

Planning began in March 2023, construction work started in July 2024, and the mezzanine went into operation in August 2024. The final adjustments were completed in January 2025, allowing the mezzanine to be fully

utilized since then, it is stated. Rentschler:

“With two pallet locks, we transport slow-moving items and packaging materials to the mezzanine, where they are stored in block storage. This relieves our shelving systems, which we use for fast movers and bulky goods. We have created additional relief for our shelves with the new shelving system, which we use for small parts. This way, we have gained additional space for storing steel coils and other materials.”

Thanks to the expanded space, we also now store machines that are not in operation for the customer directly on site on the mezzanine. The abandonment of the previously used separate external warehouse reduces the transport routes.

New PremisesIn addition to storage space, we

are creating new premises for employees with the mezzanine according to our own statements. In addition to a meeting room where customers can be received and employee training conducted, the expansion includes a break room with a kitchenette and a changing room for employees. Brantl:

“Previously, we shared the break room on the premises with another company. Now we have our break rooms directly in our part of the hall – this saves us the walk and strengthens team cohesion. The hall was remodeled while operations continued. I am pleased that this exceptional situation brought colleagues together and that everyone contributed to ensuring everything went smoothly. As a result, there were no delays in daily operations during the remodeling
