Logistics service provider Dachser has put the first seven fully electric eActros 600 tractor units into operation. The vehicles will be integrated into the long-haul general cargo network at the Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Dortmund, and Freiburg locations. They are part of a total order of 15 units, with delivery expected to be completed by the end of the year. The eight additional vehicles are to be delivered to Dachser locations as well as service partners. The goal is to test electric long-haul transport in
regular operation and to gradually expand it.
Since December 2024, Dachser has been testing the new vehicle generation with twelve additional eActros 600 at the subsidiary Brummer Logistik. There, the vehicles are mainly used in food transport on daily routes of around 300 kilometers. Per vehicle, around 90,000 kilometers of mileage per year are planned. In total, Dachser now operates more than 140 electric trucks in the European network.
For practical use, Dachser has created cross-site charging infrastructure. At the Brummer site Neuburg
am Inn, among other things eleven fixed and two mobile fast chargers with up to 400 kilowatts charging capacity are installed. The supply is exclusively with renewable electricity, including from an in-house photovoltaic system with a capacity of 2,900 kilowatts-peak. The system is complemented by a battery storage with a capacity of 3,680 kilowatt-hours. The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) funded the expansion of the infrastructure and vehicle procurement under the KsNI directive with around 4.68 million euros.
Full-Service Leasing Model
for Mercedes-Benz eActros 600
The new electric trucks are operated through a full-service leasing model by Daimler Truck Financial Services. This includes, in addition to financing, maintenance, repairs, tire service, and digital fleet management tools. This enables, among other things, monitoring of battery condition and evaluation of the charging history. For the electric trucks, reliable data on operating economics, range, and reliability can thus be collected.
