Deutz AG has restructured its sea freight logistics for the transatlantic market: According to the company, 2,200 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit) in 20- and 40-foot containers will be transported by ship to the USA.
From July 1, OLS will take over the complete logistics from departure in Cologne and Ulm, through sea freight to the USA, and delivery to
the Deutz plant in Norcross, near Atlanta (Georgia), as well as to other warehouses in the USA.
An initial contract term of two years has been agreed, according to the information. The contract was initiated by ThielemannGroup, the parent company of OLS. This enhances the transatlantic logistics of Deutz AG with a smart door-to-door concept.
Important Market
OLS is
an overseas logistics company connected to the network of the freight forwarding company Fr. Meyer's Sohn (FMS). The services offered include sea freight, pre- and post-carriage coordination, and continuous tracking & tracing.
“The USA is a central and important market for our drive systems. In times of challenging geopolitical developments, we need a reliable service provider,” says Dr. Sebastian
C. Schulte, CEO of Deutz AG.
Further Collaboration Planned
According to the information, ThielemannGroup is working to jointly further optimize the supply chain of Deutz AG. Various features aimed at increasing sustainability are being considered.
“North America is not only our most important foreign market – we also see a continuously growing demand for our products here,” explains Schulte.
