The fleet management company Webfleet, a brand of tire manufacturer Bridgestone, and the Israeli technology provider Questar Auto Technologies have jointly introduced an AI-powered solution for predictive maintenance. According to the companies' statement dated 29 October 2025, the system should help fleet managers detect technical issues early and plan maintenance measures efficiently.

Data analysis as the basis for predictive maintenance

The new solution from the Webfleet portfolio for Predictive Vehicle Health Management uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to continuously assess the technical condition of vehicles. For this purpose, data on driving behavior, current condition, and possible future risks are analyzed. The aim is to

forecast maintenance needs before damage or failures occur.

By integrating Questar's technology into the Webfleet platform, fleet managers obtain a complete overview of the condition of their vehicles. Based on this analysis, maintenance work can be planned more predictably, which, according to Webfleet, leads to lower downtime and reduced operating costs.

"By combining Webfleet's comprehensive expertise in vehicle data and its user-friendly interface with Questar's advanced AI for early detection of failure risks, we are redefining fleet management," explains Jan-Maarten de Vries, President of Fleet Management Solutions at Bridgestone. "This is the first comprehensive integration of Predictive Vehicle Health Management in a single user interface."

Early detection through machine learning

Questar's technology is based on more than two decades of analytical experience and advanced AI. Using machine learning techniques, the system identifies patterns in vehicle behavior and derives forecasts of possible technical faults. These predictions are fed into the Webfleet system in real time, allowing fleet managers to act proactively.

The new system is now available in nine countries, including Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland and Hungary.

What does this mean?

With the introduction of AI-based maintenance systems, digital fleet management takes another step toward automation. This potentially means more planning security and better resource utilization. However, the actual benefit of such systems depends on the quality of data collection and integration into existing processes. If AI models operate reliably, they can reduce costs and increase availability. But without clear data structures and trained personnel, "predictive maintenance" remains initially a promise—and not yet a standard in daily fleet operation.
