DP World, in collaboration with McLaren Racing, implemented a time-sensitive special transport during the British Grand Prix Week 2025. Within four days, a World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2027 show car was delivered from the French Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans across the English Channel to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking and further to Trafalgar Square in London, the company reports.

The transport reportedly took place in a custom-made, temperature-controlled glass container to ensure the vehicle's safety and integrity throughout the entire journey. The operation was coordinated via DP World's European logistics network.

Deployment at Trafalgar Square

The goal of the logistics operation was the fan event "McLaren Racing Live: London" at Trafalgar Square. There, the new WEC show

car was presented to the public. The event took place ahead of the British Formula 1 Grand Prix and aimed to give motorsport enthusiasts the opportunity to experience the vehicle up close.

Stephen Whittingham, Executive Vice President, North Europe, at DP World, commented: “The logistics operation was a test of precision and timing, in which DP World deployed a custom-made, temperature-controlled glass container to ensure the safe transport of the McLaren Racing WEC show car under tight time constraints. Utilizing our extensive European network, the move was seamlessly executed by our logistics experts, underscoring the company's capabilities in supporting high-value and sensitive cargo for the automotive and motorsport industry.”

Interactive Fan Activity

As part of the event, a “Pit Stop

Challenge” was organized, featuring a Formula 1 show car from the McLaren team. More than a thousand visitors participated, getting the chance to step into the role of a pit crew member. The activity's aim was a simulated tire change under realistic conditions. Due to high demand, waiting times occasionally exceeded an hour.

Role of DP World

DP World was responsible for the entire logistical planning and execution of the transport. The company operates globally in port operations, shipping, logistics, and digital solutions and employs over 115,000 people. In addition to motorsports, DP World is involved in other sports such as golf, cricket, and sailing as a logistics partner.

Partnership with McLaren

As the official logistics partner of McLaren Racing,

DP World supports the team with multimodal transport solutions and digital applications. The aim is, according to the statement, to efficiently coordinate complex supply chains and ensure the team's reliable operational readiness.
