With the acquisition of Agotrans Logistik GmbH in Rodgau near Frankfurt, the company makes its third acquisition within seven months. The transaction is still subject to antitrust approval.
Following the acquisitions of the Gras Group and the Krüger locations in Göttingen, the logistics company is further strengthening its position within the German freight cooperation IDS. Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis, managing partners of the Geis Group:
“The Frankfurt region has long been strategically very interesting for us, as it optimally complements our road network. With Agotrans, we have now found the right company to purposefully expand our presence in this region.”
Agotrans Logistik GmbH has been established as an owner-managed family business in the
east of Frankfurt since 1972. In 2014, it relocated to Rodgau. Its services include nationwide and Europe-wide groupage freight, partial and full loads, contract logistics, and specialized automotive solutions. The company is also active in the Online Systemlogistik cooperation. Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis:
“The range of services and regional strength of Agotrans fit perfectly into our portfolio. And more importantly: the chemistry is right. With Agotrans and owner Dr. Thomas Wernig, we share the same entrepreneurial spirit and values such as reliability, customer orientation, responsibility, and sustainable growth.”
Dr. Wernig is expected to remain in the company until mid-2026 and help shape the transition together with the Geis management. All jobs will be
retained, it says. Dr. Thomas Wernig, who has been leading the company since 2018:
“With Geis, we have found a strong partner who, like us, thinks and acts in the long term. Our employees and customers will benefit from new perspectives within an internationally positioned corporate group with over 10,000 employees in 14 countries and a large and stable IDS network in Germany.”
Growth in the Rhine-Main Area and IDS Network Geis has been active in the greater Frankfurt area since the 1980s. With the integration of Agotrans, the logistics company expands its offerings in the road products sector and further strengthens its market position in the Rhine-Main area.
A central background to the
acquisition is, according to its own statements, the reorganization within the IDS network. After the announced withdrawal of DSV, the IDS depot area Aschaffenburg will be taken over in the future. At the same time, the integration of the Krüger locations in Göttingen replaces the former DSV depot in Baunatal. In the future, there will be 13 of the 54 depot areas within the IDS freight cooperation. Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis:
“With this acquisition, we are specifically investing in the network coverage of Geis and IDS. At the same time, we are taking responsibility for the region: We are taking over 120 qualified jobs and significantly developing the Rodgau location in the long
