The official handover of the new vehicles took place on the premises of TIT Imhof in the presence of representatives from KVA Thurgau, Designwerk Technologies AG, as well as partners from Müller Technologie AG and VDL Translift.
The E-trucks converted by Designwerk Technologies AG in Winterthur, based on Volvo models, are equipped with 500
kWh NMC lithium-ion batteries, providing a range of up to 300 kilometers. According to TIT Imhof, a particular highlight is the RFID-based system for automatic identification of underground containers. The data from the integrated crane scale, which records the weight at each emptying, thereby enables dynamic route planning and also shortens travel distances.
The
collaboration with KVA Thurgau brings significant advantages for all parties involved, it was stated. Currently, around 1,500 underground containers are serviced, and through this system, 22,000 tons of municipal waste are collected annually. The fully electric drive not only reduces noise and pollutant emissions but also improves the working conditions for drivers. At the
same time, this contributes actively to the environmental goals of the canton of Thurgau.
With the investment in the fully electric fleet, TIT Imhof aims to position itself as a pioneer in sustainable waste disposal. The new technology enables efficient and environmentally friendly service for the growing network of underground containers in the canton
