The international automotive supplier Valeo has entered into a strategic partnership with battery manufacturer VoltR. The focus of the partnership is the reconditioning of batteries for small electric vehicles. Valeo's experience in electronic battery repair will be combined with VoltR's expertise in the reconditioning of cell packs. This will allow for the saving of at least 95%

of materials. The companies aim to offer fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers, repair networks, and battery producers a supply chain of reconditioned components. In addition, they aim to achieve almost 100 percent reparability of the batteries.

Isabelle d’Ambrosio-Pierre, Vice President Valeo Service OES & Smart Mobility, commented on the partnership:

“By combining the strengths of Valeo and VoltR,

we offer a concrete answer to three key challenges: a greener use of batteries, a more affordable mobility for everyone, and a reliable source of repair components. This solution is not only innovative, but also crucial for the development of less carbon-intensive urban mobility.”

Contribution to the circular economy

The collaboration between Valeo and VoltR is intended

to align with the principles of the circular economy. The developed process enables diagnosis and repair of used batteries. If a cell needs to be replaced, VoltR offers reconditioned battery packs with a compatible cell reference to preserve the original certifications and the pack's performance. Thus the components get a second life and waste is reduced. (Source:
