At a symbolic signing of the contract, the carpet supplier Medipa Handels GmbH has acquired a plot of land in the Alfter Nord industrial park near Bonn. Complementing the existing activities in Troisdorf, a new 'Medipa Eco Campus' is being built on a 75,000-square-meter site there. The total investment volume amounts to 50 million euros, announced the Alfter Economic Development GmbH in a press release on August 12.
At the new site, the company plans the construction of a logistics and administration complex. Medipa aims to achieve the DGNB Gold and QNG PLUS sustainability certificates for the campus. The quality
seal 'Sustainable Building QNG PLUS' takes into account, among other things, sustainable material sourcing (for example wood from certified forestry), reduced greenhouse gas emissions, energy-efficient operation, low-emission building materials for good indoor air, barrier-free accessibility, economic life-cycle costs, as well as social responsibility in planning, construction and operation.
Sustainable solutions such as a two-megawatt photovoltaic system with battery storage, extensive greening of the building, a regenerative heating system, rainwater infiltration, heat pumps, and the pre-wiring for electric vehicle charging stations are, according to the Alfter Economic Development GmbH, a fixed component of the concept.

due to its strategic location and cooperative administration," said Caglar Kepekci, Managing Director of Medipa Handels GmbH. "This project stands for ecological responsibility and a new generation of logistics."
Overall, 40,000 square meters of fully automated logistics warehouse, 5,000 square meters of office, showroom and R&D spaces, as well as a two-story parking deck with 100 parking spaces and truck waiting zones will be built. More than 5,000 square meters of landscaped green spaces, fully automatic fire protection technology, as well as ergonomically designed workplaces, recreation and sports areas for employees round out the concept.
"With Medipa, we are already
securing an anchor tenant for the expansion of our attractive business park well before the completion of the development works," said the mayor and chairman of the supervisory board of the Alfter Economic Development GmbH, Dr. Rolf Schumacher.
This strengthens their conviction that Alfter Nord, due to its location and the sustainable development concept, will generate a very strong demand.
