The fashion retailer Zalando, the e-commerce company, is intensifying its strategic partnership with the AI-powered robotics company Nomagic. The goal is to further expand automation in the logistics centers and thereby optimize operational processes, relieve employees, and sustainably increase efficiency in warehouse operations.

The robots from Nomagic take on central tasks within warehouse processes at the item level, such as picking, scanning, and handing over items to automated Pocket-Sorter systems. As part of a successful pilot project, the systems achieved an average of 10,000 picks per day. Based on these results,

Zalando plans to increase the number of deployed robots in 2025 to at least nine. For 2026, an expansion to a two-digit number is planned to equip additional logistics sites with the technology.

The robotic systems from Nomagic are based on computer vision and machine learning. They are capable of recognizing and processing a broad and ever-changing product range – a crucial capability given Zalando's extensive fashion and lifestyle assortment. This technological flexibility enables the automation of manual tasks without restricting the complexity or variety of the warehouse inventory.

Zalando takes

a stake in Nomagic

In addition to expanding the use of robots, Zalando acquired a minority stake in Nomagic as part of a Series B financing round amounting to $44 million. This reinforces the company's long-term interest in advancing innovative automation solutions and also secures influence over the technological development in the field of robot-assisted warehouse logistics.

Kacper Nowicki, CEO of Nomagic: “The partnership between Nomagic and Zalando will advance our technology in additional fulfilment centers across Europe. Together we will prove that AI and robotics enable real operational improvements at

scale.”

Nomagic was founded eight years ago and emerged from a team of Google, AI and robotics experts as well as logistics specialists. The Warsaw-based company has specialized in developing scalable robotics solutions for recurring physical tasks in warehousing and fulfilment processes. The product family includes, among others, the robot platforms “justPick”, “justPack” and “justInduct”. These systems are already in use by logistics service providers and offer modular solutions for central process steps. With “Spot”, Nomagic recently presented a new AI-powered solution for automated verification of shipments for completeness and correctness.
