Swisslog has expanded its portfolio in warehouse automation. On August 28, 2025, the company presents the Intramove series, a range of autonomous mobile robots for horizontal transport in goods warehouses. The robots are designed to handle payloads of up to 3,000 kilograms and use artificial intelligence to assist with navigation and performance optimization.
Three models for different payloads
According to the announcement, the series comprises three variants. The Intramove AMR 600 is designed for payloads up to 600 kilograms. The Intramove AMR 1500 transports pallets up to 1,500 kilograms. The Intramove AMR 3000 model is intended for particularly heavy goods up to 3,000 kilograms and features an omnidirectional
drive. All variants are equipped with integrated lifting mechanisms that enable gentle handling.
Control via fleet manager software
The robots are connected to a fleet manager software via the standardized interface VDA 5050. According to Swisslog, this is based on artificial intelligence and provides real-time assignment of transport orders. In doing so, routes are optimized as well as factors such as battery status and the availability of the robots.
Navigation without fixed infrastructure
For navigation, the devices use SLAM navigation with laser scanners and algorithms for autonomous route calculation. External systems such as doors or elevators can be integrated via communication protocols such as MQTT, ModBus and OPC
UA. This makes operation possible also in complex warehouse environments without fixed installations.
Connection to warehouse management systems
A direct connection of the fleet manager software with warehouse management systems such as Swisslog's SynQ enables, according to the company, seamless processing of orders. Different top modules such as platforms or roller conveyors are also intended to provide flexibility in product handling.
“Our customers are increasingly looking for transport solutions that can handle heavier payloads and adapt to dynamic, frequently changing conditions,” says Thomas Balzarek, AMR Solution Manager at Swisslog. “The Intramove AMRs are ideally suited for point-to-point pallet and carton transport in industries such as food and beverages,
fashion and consumer goods, as well as for industrial applications. They offer rapid implementation, flexible operation and easy adjustment of routes and delivery points.”
Use as a subsystem or picking solution
The Intramove series can be used both for point-to-point transport as a subsystem and as an independent solution in picking. Companies can adjust the number of robots according to the volume of goods without interrupting ongoing operations.
Longstanding experience with driverless systems
Swisslog notes that it has been deploying driverless transport systems in warehouse environments for more than 50 years. With the new series, the provider expands its existing portfolio, which also includes the CarryPick solution. (av)
