The food delivery service foodora has committed to improving road safety and is launching "foodora on track," a program with measures to contribute to safer roads and smarter urban mobility. This also aims to underscore the commitment to responsible and innovative delivery practices. The concept includes initiatives to enable drivers to comply with traffic rules, collaborations with associations and local authorities to improve road safety, and the testing of innovative delivery methods.
First and foremost, the company wants to enhance its drivers' awareness of road safety. This includes traffic safety training with videos, quizzes, or practical tips, as well as communication with
drivers. Push notifications about road safety and real-time weather alerts provide real-time information. Regarding protective gear, drivers have the option to obtain safety equipment such as helmets and jackets. Additionally, the company encourages regular breaks to promote alertness and concentration. Driving license tests for motorized drivers are also a given. Through its own app, the provider aims to facilitate navigation and thus reduce stress. However, one can also use a preferred third-party navigation app.
Drones and Robots in Delivery Service in Sweden
Additionally, innovative delivery solutions are being tested. Since February 14, 2025, drones have been officially in use in Värmdö and
Gustavsberg (Sweden) in cooperation with Tele2 (network coverage), Aviant (drone technology), and Bastard Burgers (restaurant partner). Tests have also been conducted in Finland and Norway. Furthermore, ground robots are being tested: On March 13, 2025, a new delivery service launched the service with autonomous robots in three of its markets in Stockholm in cooperation with Starship Technologies.
Additionally, connections with cycling communities & NGOs are being sought. The provider cooperates with the Norwegian Cycling Federation, the Hungarian Bicycle Club, Cycling Lawyers in Austria, or the organizers of the Prague Bike Fest in Czechia, focusing on educational work, training, and safety campaigns for
safer roads. The program also includes knowledge transfer and training with police in Austria and Hungary, the NGO Safe Traffic in Norway, and BKK in Budapest to improve regulations and make urban traffic more efficient. In cities like Turku (Finland), they work with municipalities to develop infrastructure projects like delivery parking spaces. In Hungary, the delivery service supports school traffic safety campaigns and donates helmets to children in collaboration with MKK. Finally, issues of restaurants and retail are also addressed, for example by working together to establish delivery parking spaces and clear pickup protocols, such as with food establishments in Norway and
