The food delivery service foodora has committed to enhancing road safety and is launching a program called "foodora on track" with measures to contribute to safer streets and smarter urban mobility. This initiative aims to underscore the commitment to responsible and innovative delivery practices. The concept includes initiatives to empower drivers to adhere to traffic rules, collaborations with associations and local authorities to improve road safety, and the testing of innovative delivery methods.
First and foremost, the company aims to strengthen its drivers' safety awareness in road traffic. This includes traffic safety training with videos, quizzes, or practical tips, as well as communication with drivers.
For example, push notifications on traffic safety and real-time weather warnings provide up-to-date information. Regarding protective gear, drivers have the opportunity to receive safety equipment such as helmets and jackets. Additionally, they are encouraged to take regular breaks to enhance attention and concentration. A driving test for motorized drivers is also a given. The provider also aims to ease navigation and reduce stress using its own app, although a preferred third-party navigation app can also be used.
Drones and Robots in Delivery Service in Sweden
In addition, innovative delivery solutions are being tested. Since February 14, 2025, drones have been officially deployed in Värmdö and
Gustavsberg (Sweden) in cooperation with Tele2 (network coverage), Aviant (drone technology) and Bastard Burgers (restaurant partner). Tests have also taken place in Finland and Norway. Ground robots are also being tested: on March 13, 2025, a new delivery service launched the service with autonomous robots in three of its markets in Stockholm – in cooperation with Starship Technologies.
Furthermore, they are seeking contact with bicycle communities & NGOs. The provider is cooperating with entities such as the Norwegian Cyclists' Association, the Hungarian Cyclists’ Club, Radvokaten in Austria, and organizers of the Prague Bike Fest in Czech Republic – focusing on awareness-raising, training, and safety campaigns
for safer roads. The program also includes knowledge transfer and training with the police in Austria and Hungary, the NGO Safe Traffic in Norway, and BKK in Budapest to improve regulations and make urban traffic more efficient. In cities like Turku (Finland), collaboration with municipalities is underway to develop infrastructure projects like delivery parking spaces. In Hungary, the delivery service supports school traffic safety campaigns and donates helmets to children in collaboration with the MKK. Additionally, they address challenges faced by restaurants and retailers, for instance, through collaboration on setting delivery parking spaces and clear pick-up protocols, working with catering businesses in Norway and the
