The French cargo bike manufacturer Kleuster and the French commercial vehicle manufacturer Renault Truck are expanding their partnership, which began in 2022: They presented a new e-cargo bike at Eurobike. The new Kleuster 350 is designed for intensive use in urban environments and was jointly developed by Renault Trucks and Kleuster and manufactured by Renault Trucks.
According to the manufacturer, the aim is to respond to the rapidly growing e-commerce industry, the demand for shorter delivery times, the increasing demand for flexibility, and stricter environmental regulations.
Features
The new, robust, and technically optimized model has been designed according to the requirements for heavy-duty vehicles. Accordingly, a chainless drive reduces maintenance efforts and improves the vehicle's availability. Additionally, a
replaceable battery with a range of up to 35 kilometers each is intended to be practical.
The front and rear suspensions are expected to provide better comfort and stability on any terrain. As a classic trike, the model features a very small turning circle of 2.4 meters.
The total cost of ownership (TCO) is intended to be lower due to the technical innovations. These are a crucial criterion for businesses that depend on sustainable, profitable solutions suitable for the challenges of the last mile, the manufacturer states. Soon, the first practical tests are set to start in Austria. Moreover, discussions are being held with well-known players in the retail sector who have shown interest.
The Kleuster 350 complies
with standards (Standard EN 17860) and is equipped with additional safety devices developed together with UTAC - an independent, technically specialized testing facility in France for the certification and approval of products in the automotive sector. The vehicle has undergone rigorous endurance testing, with more than 30,000 kilometers and 1,440 operating hours at the independent test center Transpolis.
Two models for various applications
Two models with a payload ranging from 150 to 300 kilograms are available. The Box 350 is intended to be an ultra-compact model with high maneuverability and an enclosed body with large capacity, targeting last-mile deliveries, courier services, food deliveries, craftsmen, or internal and non-commercial transport.
The Pick-up 350 comes with an open loading area,
a system of side walls, and tool-free removable top walls, addressing material transport, technical interventions, green space maintenance, city cleaning, or internal and cross-site logistics services. With the new models, Kleuster expands its portfolio and now offers seven configurations for different industries: Box Freegônes, Fridge Freegônes, Collecte Freegônes, Cleaner Freegônes, Pick-up Freegônes.
The development of the cargo bikes takes place in France, the assembly at the Renault Trucks plant in Vénissieux, and sales through the manufacturer's sales network. With the market launch, the commercial vehicle manufacturer aims to round off its range of CO2-neutral transport solutions. The range spans from cargo bikes to electric vans and trucks, intended to cover the logistics needs from the last mile to
